Baby Size Tracker!

Oh! And be sure to check out the baby size tracker at the bottom of the blog! This one says the baby is as big as an onion, but my app on my iPhone says it's as big as a sweet potato, so who knows. Both can vary in size tremendously!

It Moves!

Well, it's been a while since I wrote anything on the blog...I guess I've felt like there's not much to report lately...unless you all want to hear all about my aches and pains, bloating and cramping, nausea and vomiting...

Didn't think so.

So now I am proud (and very happy!) to write that most of that is over!!! (Mad props to the 2nd trimester.)

Yep, I'm 17 weeks and 5 days and things are going much more smoothly - baby-wise.

My career has taken a very abrupt turn (more like a nose dive) that I didn't anticipate or even want--initially--, but like in all things, God knows EXACTLY what he's doing. Not working has given me time to reflect, pray, volunteer, and REST (and to those of you who know the amount of hours, blood, sweat, and tears I was giving to my job before, you know this is the most important!)

The baby is very healthy...Andy and I heard the baby's heartbeat last Friday and even heard a "kick"! I felt the kick and have been feeling them ever since, now that I know what to feel for. I was singing at church today and the baby was kicking during the "Revelation Song" in which I poured out my heart to God on stage. I guess he/she was rockin' right along saying "Go Mom!!"

Really, this whole kicking thing just reminds me so much of something out of one of the "Alien" movies, I can't even tell you.

Speaking of aliens, I've been having weird dreams...even dreaming that I gave birth to an alien. Also in another dream I gave birth to a cartoon cell phone that squirted ink at me, a muppet baby (I think Fozzie?), and other various babies that certainly didn't come from me or Andy.

So upcoming in baby news... this Friday (the 11th) Andy and I go for our first ultrasound and find out the gender of the baby! I can't wait to find out!!

I'll be back soon to report on the results of the ultrasound!

Thanks so much for your thoughts and prayers!

Babcock Baby Blog Begins...

Hi All,

This is my second attempt at a blog, the first of which I realized I didn't have much to say that would be of interest to anyone else, so I dropped it like a bad habit. My hope now is that this blog will be much more fulfulling and entertaining as I now have many things to blog about!

Of course the most important thing to blog is our wonderful news:

We're pregnant! That's right! After being married 6.5 years, we're pregnant! God has truly blessed us with this glorious gift, and, (as He always does) did it in His perfect time!

Andy and I are in a really great place now as his residency is coming to an end in a month, and my job is much more manageable with the addition of new and supportive staff to share the load.

So, I've decided to create this blog with the intention of keeping our family and friends up to date as so many of you are far away from us and want to know what's going on!

We want you all to know that we love you and care for you all so much...thank you for your support and love in return.

Sincerely,

Laurel & Andy
xoxo!
